President's Message
![]() |
| Greeting to each of you and thanks for visiting the LaFayette Square Association website, the official chronicler of the LaFayette Square story. It is a distinct honor and humbling experience to follow in the footsteps of stellar presidencies. Whatever we accomplish could not have been possible without those who kept the dream alive and passed the baton to us. Our thanks and acknowledgement; to former presidents – Ron Johnson, John Herod, Barbara Boudreaux, Robert Cotton, Albert Boudreaux, III, Marvin Carpenter, Joel Arterbury, Cage Johnson, Frank Harvey, Van R. Williams, and the first president under a revitalized organization, Frazier Moore.
In conversation with many of you as I contemplated what the demands of this office would entail, as well as during the rich dialogue and planning retreat of the executive board, it was clearly reinforced that we are a blessed people. Not only have we inherited a rich legacy, but also among us are some of the most gifted, ingenious, dedicated, and determined persons that I have ever encountered. This assemblage is far more than I could have ever thought or imagined! Now, comes the awesome task of guiding the team through the maize of long standing issues, often unwieldy bureaucracy, and limited public and private resources to maintain the beauty and peacefulness of our neighborhood, the solidarity with our larger community, and the empowering feeling of being in Los Angeles. Truly, I love LA!... And I believe that you do too! Our elders have passed the baton on to us. Our youth are depending on us to carry the torch, until we pass that to them. Whether you are a resident of “The Square” or a friend of “The Square” we are all in this together. Together we can make a difference. Together we can make a difference. Together we will make a difference. Be Well! |
