Welcome to beautiful, historic La Fayette Square.
We are nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, often referred to as
Mid-City. Our community of 236 turn off the century homes are a
rare treat in the modern, fast paced world we live in.
LaFayette Square was the brainchild of visionary George
L. Crenshaw. He built the first home here in 1912. His idea,
to create one of the most beautiful Residential Parks in Southern
California. Originally, this gated community boasted granite
balustrades with electric lights atop its entrances. St. Charles
Place, the park like street in the center of the Square was fashioned
after the beautiful park that surrounds the Theatro Municipal at Rio de
Janeiro. A history such as this can never be duplicated, only
preserved.
LaFayette Square became the ninth community in the
City of Los Angeles to be granted Historic Preservation Overlay Zone
status. Our aim, to protect and preserve this piece of Americana
for generations to come.
